St. Luke's member Annie Eyring in the role of Barbie at the Costume Party scene.

A great Ernest Hemingway knock-off (St. Luke's member Steve Hurles) gets the attention of St. Luke's elder Jerry Juliano wearing an impressive straitjacket costume.

St. Luke's member Jim Carbonaro, seen here alongside his sidekick, Evelyn, provided useful consultation services regarding the manner in which state mental institutions are run. Jim also appears as a mental patient in the hospital scenes sporting a convincing beard. He also took part in various courtroom scenes.

The mystery guest in a yellow dress?

FILM SHOOT

As most of you know, I am not only the pastor at St. Luke's, but also
the Atlantic District's Missionary at Large to the Arts Community
which has led me to produce a film on which we finished Principal
Photography at the end of August 2006.

I'd like to thank some of the following members of the church who were
most useful to the project: Jim Creighton and Wayne Gabel for
providing legal guidance, in addition to the advice of the Manhattan
based Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. Joe Rao provided valuable
meteorological information so we could know when to film at 'Magic
Hour' (the time just after the sun rises and before it sets).

Val Scott provided invaluable help in food preparation for cast, crew,
and extras during the first week of the shoot. Her husband Mike
provided some of the professional high-end equipment we used. Thea
Moeller joined the production crew on location and was able to take
the production stills photos, some of which are posted on this
website.

Jim Carbonaro was helpful in providing his consultation services
regarding the manner in which state institutions are run. Jim also
helped with some of the catering. For the first part of the shoot, he
grew a convincing beard to pose as a patient in the hospital scenes,
as well as a member of the courtroom scenes. Jim, sprouting a
different look, also attended the filming of the Costume Party scene
here in Putnam Valley, alongside his sidekick, Evelyn.

Last, but not least, was Annie Eyring who portrayed the role of Barbie
at the Costume Party. Her mother, Sara K. Eyring, was also present
wearing a dazzling butterfly mask. Also, standing in as a great Ernest
Hemingway knock-off, was Steve Hurles. Jerry Juliano did an impressive
job in his straitjacket costume. A mystery guest showed up in a yellow
dress (but had to leave early before the midnight hour).

In addition to other locals who filmed at the Velichko's, notable
mention goes to the trio from Our Savior Lutheran in Fishkill, Linda
Knuepple, Nancy Graf Peters (editor of LWML's National Quarterly
Magazine), and Flory Sjolholm (who represented the Red Hat Society of
North America).

Stay tuned for more news about this exciting project and for information about screenings and film distribution.
