Musings From the Moderator

Aha! You thought you were through with me, didn’t you? Not yet, we haven’t had our Annual Meeting yet, so I go on! I have several topics to talk about, so here goes.

THANK YOU! Thank you to all who returned your pledge cards, both financial and time and talent. $42,558 has been pledged to date. The number of pledging units decreased slightly (bad news) but the amount went up slightly (good news). Thanks to your responses to the Time and Talent Pledge Cards, we are able to update our list of people for various tasks. Praise be to God! You are the folk who keep this place of God going!

NURSERY CARE! We are adding the job of nursery care to the regular Chore List. I have redone a job description, which I will include in this newsletter also. We will assign someone for the month, mostly to be on call and available should they be needed. Please review the job description and try to be available if you are the assigned caregiver. Enlist a substitute if you are not able to be present.

OFFICE HELP! We had some people who volunteered to help with organizing records, office work, mail, and bulletin copying. I am going to take them up on their offers and try to get a schedule set up for some regular work times. I will meet with them sometime after the Annual Meeting.

THANK YOU AGAIN! We made Christmas a little better for nine families and two residents of St. Joseph’s Villa thanks to you and your

purchases of food and gifts. Having delivered two of the baskets and helped load the others, I can tell you they were heavy. Thank you for your generosity, kindness and good will.

HEADLINE! Did you happen to notice the item in the DEMOCRAT AND CHRONICLE last week that stated that the poverty rate for children in Rochester was down slightly and up slightly in Greece? We have work to do in our own community

BLOOD DRIVE! Our next Red Cross Blood Drive is on Saturday, February 16 from 9 AM to 2 PM in the Fellowship Hall. You may make an appointment with the Red Cross to donate or you may just walk in. The goal is usually 20 pints of blood, so be generous. Pastor Glenn will tell you how important it is to have blood available; he recently had to have transfusions. If you are a regular donor, check with the Red Cross to be sure you can give at this time.

NEW FURNACES! The weird noises you have been hearing at church are the workman putting new furnaces and ductwork in the building. Williams and Son Heating is doing the job. I feel certain that we will be warm, cozy and dry when they are finished. In the meantime, dress warmly when you are here!

That’s all the news for now. Remember both Valentine’s Day and Heart Month are in February. Spread a little love around for your heart and your people!

Ann Weitzel
