Parkman Congregational Church

The Administrative Council met April 24, 2012 in the old sanctuary with the following present: Art and Roberta Barringer, Marge Inman, David and Olivia Smith, Denise Villers, Vivian Helmick, Denise and Jim Toth and Pastor Rod Edwards.

David Smith called the meeting to order at 7pm. Pastor Rod led devotions and prayer.

The March minutes were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer’s report shows a checking account balance of $405.45 as of March 31, 2012 after receipts of $12,139.50 and expenses of $12,298.46. The mortgage balance is $67,980.97. The savings account balance is $1,854.01. Dave also presented a quarterly report showing year-to-date spending compared to budget.

Worship Committee

A special service will be held on May 3 rd at 7pm in honor of National Day of Prayer. Eugene has volunteered to lead worship service on May 13 th at Briar Hill. The Committee’s next Meeting is scheduled for May 8 th at 7pm.

Christian Education

It was reported that Olivia Smith has stepped down from teaching the pre-school children and Sean & Misty Gotham have stepped down from teaching the senior high school. Vivian wished to thank Olivia, Sean and Misty for their many years of serving our youth. Crystal & Duane Burn have volunteered to teach the senior high class. The summer classes will begin on Sunday, June 3 rd with Vivian teaching kindergarten thru 7 th grade and Crystal & Duane will be teaching 8 th thru 12 th .

Scholarship applications are due by May 31 st . Interviews will be held the 1 st week of June with the announcement being made on June 10 th Graduation Sunday.

A director is still needed to lead this year’s VBS program. No plans have been made at this time. Volunteers are also needed to help with children’s church.

Facilities Ministry

It was noted that the Church was struck by lightening which caused damage to the phones, the parsonage gas line, security system and smoke alarms. No structural damage was discovered only minimal cosmetic damage to the siding on the Church. The insurance adjuster has inspected the damage and approved the repairs. It was noted that the policy does have $1,000 deductible.

The Trustees continue to pursue the process of leasing the mineral rights of the Church property.

A work night has been scheduled for Thursday, April 28 th for the purpose of outside clean-up

and repairs.

It was also reported that the water testing was completed and continue to return good results.

Children’s Ministry - No report.

Missions- No report.

Youth Fellowship- No report

Children’s Church- No report.

Women’s Fellowship

The April meeting was held at the home of Elizabeth Coz. Plans are underway to serve the Parkman Alumni Banquet on May 5 th at the Church.

A Trash & Treasure Sale is scheduled for Thursday, July 19 th , Friday, July 20 th and Saturday, July 21 st . Donations for the sale will start on Sunday, July 15 th following Church and will be accepted thru Tuesday, July 17 th .

The next meeting is scheduled for May 14 th at the home of Judee Lombardo.

Social Committee - A group of 30 gathered for the afternoon of Bowling and dinner at the Hot Dog Shop.

The next event planned is the Father’s Day brunch and Strawberry Social on Sunday, June 17th.

Elders- The Board continues to meet for prayer and Bible study.

Pastor

National Day of Prayer service will be held on May 3 rd at 7pm. Pastor Rod stated that an

invitation has been extended to four area Church’s to participate.

Pastor Rod extended a special thank you to Eugene for sharing at the Sunrise Service on Easter morning. It was noted that there are many needs within in the Church in the areas of Children’s Church, Worship Committee, Missions Ministry Leader, Ushers, and Christian Education.

Pastor Rod also stated that Pastor Peterson from the Middlefield Methodists Church contacted him asking if our Church wanted to participate with other area Church’s in a “Go Day” event scheduled for the fall. The event is designed as an outreach to the community. The weekend event will be followed by a community worship service on Sunday morning. Additional information will be forthcoming for those that would like participate.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm, those in attendance circled for prayer.
