My Favorite Time of the Year!

This is my favorite time of the year…Autumn!  This is the time when God pulls out His crayons (so to speak) and does the absolute best coloring you’ll ever see! The green leaves of the summer begin to turn colors…beautiful hues of yellow, orange, green, purple, brown, etc. God’s world bursts into an array of, what I like to think of it as, God’s attitude!

All summer long there is work, striving, some turmoil, some hardships…but then autumn comes, and God changes the whole outlook of the entire world!  What was the “dog days” of summer now becomes a bright array of happiness, joy, colorfulness, representing change always comes! What feels like trials that will never end now becomes an attitude of hope for a brighter day!

Then at the end of autumn is the season of Thanksgiving…a time when we look back after the fact and see what the Lord has actually brought us through…and we give Him praise and thanksgiving for all the bountiful blessing He has bestowed upon us all! And it seems to make all the toiling and striving worth it!

Psalm 19:1 says…”The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork."
Psalm 46:8-11 says…"Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth."He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”
Psalm 77:11-19 says…”I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah (or think about it!) The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.  The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. "Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known."

What a mighty God we serve! He has made us glad with the work of His hands! God has a way with Him like that…taking situations that we think hopeless and changing them to where they are victories to us, teaching us the ways of the Lord!

This fall, and especially at Thanksgiving, let’s give Him the glory due His name! Let’s let Him know how thankful and grateful we are just to be one of His own!  We, as Christians, have so much to thank Him for!  Looking around, we se all the good things He’s done for us, and we realize that if it was not for the Lord who was on our side, old Satan would have swallowed us up quickly! But Jesus came to our rescue so many times that we could hardly count!

Let’s ask Him to forgive us for any and all times we didn’t obey Him when He wanted us to do some task we didn’t want to do…or for the times we’ve done things he told us not to do!  In Autumn, it seems, by God adding so much color, that God may be saying, “Hey my son or daughter…I forgive you! Now forgive yourselves, and enjoy the color!” Ain’t that just like God? God Bless!  Pastor Rick

We plough the fields and scatter!

We plough the fields,and scatter the good seed on the land,
but it is fed and watered by God's almighty hand;
he sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain,
the breezes and the sunshine and soft refreshing rain.

All good gifts around us Are sent from heaven above
then thank the Lord,O thank the Lord for all his love.

He only is the maker of all things near and far;
he paints the wayside flower, he lights the evening star;
the winds and waves obey him, by him the birds are fed;
much more to us, his children, he gives our daily bread.

We thank thee then, O Father, for all things bright and good,
the seed-time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food.
Accept the gifts we offer for all thy love imparts,
and what thou most desirest, our humble, thankful hearts.

We've Moved !!!

We are thrilled to let you know that we have moved to our new building. God has richly blessed us this past year, and we are now worshipping in our own building. We are located at 576 State Route 7 North of Gallipolis across from the Holiday Inn and Speedway. Come celebrate with us. We have more room to worship, more room to fellowship, and are growing. We still have a lot to do including a new roof, but we are no longer “hiding” behind the warehouse, but now you have to swerve to miss us as you come up Route 7. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. The "Tavern" has become God's "Temple!"

Why study the Bible ? The Bible itself answers that question in 2Tmothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” So be profitable and equipped!!!
