Liturgical Ministers
In addition to the Rector many other people help to make our worship service glorify God.
Ushers – Newcomers to St. James and regular members are greeted warmly as they enter God’s House and are assisted in finding their way.

Greeters - Work with the ushers to welcome new families and/or visitors to our Sunday Morning Services. Each family or visitor will be given a information packet and answer any questions about St. James Episcopal Church.

Altar Guild – A group of faithful parishioners rotate the responsibilities entailed in preparing the sanctuary for worship. Special preparations are required for weddings, funerals and baptisms. Additional decoration at Christmas and Easter adds to the sense of devotion for all who worship.

Acolytes – Men, women, girls and boys over 8 years old are invited to join this ministry. On Sunday and other worship events they assist the priest in various ways. Training is provided on a regular basis throughout the year.

Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Worship Leaders and Eucharistic Visitors – In recent years, the laity in the Episcopal Church have taken a greater share in the reading of scripture, the administration of the bread and wine at the Eucharist, conducting Morning and Evening Prayer and administering the Sacraments to the sick and shut-in. Choir – Under the gifted leadership of William Benner, the St. James music program enhances our worship experience. There are opportunities for both adult and children. While the ability to read music is helpful, the only prerequisite for choristers is a love of singing. Contacts:

Nursery Care – During the second liturgy infants and toddlers may be left in our newly renovated nursery under the watchful care of Catherine Gibson. Questions? Contact the Parish Office at 354.3526.
Christian Formation – On Sundays at 9:30 adults may choose to attend the Adult Forum with a variety of speakers and discussion topics. The youth, upper elementary and younger children have a series of programs aimed at furthering their spiritual growth.
