St. Jacob Lutheran Church
Sharing the love of Jesus in Miamisburg

WORSHIP EVERY SUNDAY FOR 188 YEARS!

Worship is at 10:30 (led by pipe organ) and noon (led by guitars). Sunday School is at 9:00. Our services are announced to the community with our 1832 bell.  Here's a poem by Betty Daily which describes the sounds. The poem is called: "The Bells of St. Jacob"

........Listen carefully, you can hear, The bells of St. Jacob ring loud and clear.

........Their cheerful chimes are spread around, Everywhere all over town.

........You can even tell the time of day, For the bells ring out in a special way.

........They tell when it's quarter, half or hour-A timely reminder of God's holy power.

........Those bells were paid for by donation. Just hearing them brings much elation.

........They are a wonderful gift of love, That rings out clearly to God above.

........Sometimes a favorite hymn you'll hear Over an evening breeze, loud and clear.

........The familiar tones are quite a treat And bring us memories that are so sweet.

We are an old congregation but don't think our worship is old. Our building was constructed during the Civil War and we are proud of that heritage.  But don't think we are stuck in the days of Abraham Lincoln http://members.aol.com/RVSNorton/Lincoln2.html  We are moving ahead. Come join us as we grow in this new millenium.

Are you looking for lots of music in your Sunday morning worship schedule? We have it!! Our Sunday School opening starts at 9:00 with guitar music often done with a "camp style" flair. Worship at 10:30 is led by the pipe organ and includes great music from the adult choir and unique hymn accompaniment to our congregational singing. Worship at noon is led by guitars, a mandolin and a string bass. Instruments that have been used on occasion include handbells (with youth and adults and once with the entire congregation), guitar, recorder, tuba, tamborine-http://www.hypermusic.ca/inst/tambourine.html and other rhythm instruments. Find out more about the guitar at http://www.acousticguitar.com/

Are you looking for something in worship that includes youth? Every Sunday we have a Children's Sermon that is aimed at the younger folks in our worship. We try to use lots of different and creative ideas in our Children's Sermons including magic, juggling, drama, music, balloons, tops, yo-yos, diabolos and other unique items. Here are a few unique stores run by friends of the pastor: http://www.infiniteillusions.com/ - http://www.seriousjuggling.com/ - http://www.renegadejuggling.com/ - http://www.spintastics.com

What makes our worship special is the people. Come and be a part of what makes this place so special in historic downtown Miamisburg. Here's a good and faithful St. Jacob member in action - Mayor Dick Church! http://www.mvcc.net/Miamisburg/mbmayor.htm
