Welcome to Our Spiritual Gifts Page!

We're glad you have decided to participate. Please read the following material carefully before proceeding.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way -in all your speaking and in all your knowledge - because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NIV)

Step One: A Spiritual Gifts Primer

We have prepared answers to the following frequently asked questions regarding spiritual gifts.

Unless you are completely comfortable that you know all about spiritual gifts, you should read this information before continuing:

  • What are spiritual gifts?
  • Why are spiritual gifts important?
  • Who has spiritual gifts?
  • How do we know what our spiritual gifts are?
  • Who may use the Spiritual Gifts Discovery Tool?

To read the answers, click here.

Step Two: Specific Instructions

First of all, pray! Pray for guidance, pray for wisdom, pray that this process helps you to identify where the Spirit has equipped you to serve. Then, click on the link at the bottom of this web page (this will open a new window to the Spiritual Gifts Discovery Tool).

You will be presented with 110 statements, to which you will respond with a range of answers from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree". You must answer honestly, from the perspective of who you are now - not the Christian you would like to be, or think you should be. In general, your first thought is the best one: Over-thinking doesn't help. You should be able to move through the assessment fairly quickly.

Step Three: Evaluate and Report Your Results

Once you have completed the assessment, the web site will tabulate the results. Please save your results: Either print them out, or copy them to a file. We suggest you immediately copy the results into an e-mail, and send it to one of the following addresses:

bethanycovenant1@sbcglobal.net (preferred)
philiprohler@gmail.com
luke.converse@gmail.com

If you e-mail your results, they will be given to the Chairperson of the Stewardship Commission. Gifts are for use in the body, and as noted above, we are stewards of these gifts. If you choose to print out your results, we ask that you provide them to Jack Means, who is the Chairperson of the Stewardship Commission. You can place the printout in the Stewardship mailbox in the church office. The Stewardship Commission will assist you in finding ways to experiment with and start to use your gifts.

Step Four: Follow Up

There is much that isn't explored on this page. We don't cover what each gift is, what it means, or how it can be used. We don't cover the pitfalls and problems that you need to be aware of, nor do we discuss in detail the scriptural basis for all gifts or individual gifts. What we do have is a list of recommended web links and books that explore these items in more detail.

Once you've completed your personal gifts inventory, please use this reference material to explore the topic of spiritual gifts in more detail. Don't limit yourself to just the gifts you have - you will be more effective in ministry if you can recognize and appreciate the gifts of others as well.

And remember, this is just a starting point: How far you take it from here is up to you. Small steps are appropriate. Sharing is appropriate. Enjoying giving gifted service to the Body of Christ is extremely appropriate - in fact, that is the whole point.
