“A great trumpet will sound…Isaiah 27:13
Our recent vacation was spent in Gettysburg, PA. Dallas and I took two of our nieces, Bethany and Sarah. We all love it there, and find more to learn each time we go.
In the new visitors’ center is an interactive display on the use of bugles during the U.S. Civil War. Each soldier had to memorize many bugle calls. These included reveille (wake-up), to the color (assembly), the general (orders are given), the charge (battle), recall (retreat), and taps (lights out). Bugle calls rang clearly over the cacophony of battle.
We Christians are in a daily battle (Ephesians 6:12). Life’s noise and confusion distracts us. God’s voice rings out and “sounds the trumpet.” (Zechariah 9;14). Where do you hear His bugle call? Is it a warning? A call to action? Time to wake up and get moving? Time to rally? Time to retreat from over-commitments? Time to rest?
Is God calling you to participate in the music ministry of our church? Will you rally with the praise team? Assemble with the choir? Assist Children’s music? Offer special music? Pray for and encourage church musicians?
Listen for God’s clear call in your life and be open to His direction.
Listening for trumpet calls,
Charla
