WHAT WE BELIEVE Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all men and women who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe that those who receive new life in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord's Spirit. We believe in the Bible and seek to establish our faith and actions on its teachings. We believe God's will for people everywhere is to know Him and that the purpose of the church is to tell the world about Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds. MISSION STATEMENT To exalt Jesus Christ by • Evangelizing the lost • Discipling the believers • Equipping the Church • Ministering to society VISION STATEMENT Equipping and empowering churches for Great Commission ministries in the spirit of the Great Commandment. | | | Who Are the Wesleyans? The Wesleyan Church is an evangelical, Protestant denomination. We offer the good news that faith in Jesus Christ makes possible a wonderful personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by His Spirit for witness and service, and assurance of eternal life in heaven. Our name is in honor of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, whose emphasis on a life of faith, self-discipline, and perfect love is our example. There are currently about 3,600 Wesleyan churches in over 40 nations worldwide. In the United States and Canada alone, there are over 1,700 local congregations. ". . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). Sin causes pain, sorrow and death as it separates us from God both now and forevermore. Though this terrible "disease" has no human cure, God, the "Great Physician," has lovingly provided the remedy for our sin. And unlike today's expensive medical care, God's cure is free of charge. ". . . the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 6:23). Jesus freely paid the penalty for our sins, taking the disease of sin upon himself. "God made him who had no sin [Jesus] to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5:21). But even the best medicine must be applied to the wound to have any effect. Will you open your sin-sick heart to receive Jesus as your Savior and Healer? ". . . to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12). As a child of God, you will receive the ultimate healing--forgiveness and cleansing from sin, which gives you peace with God in this life, and throughout eternity. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). | Copyright © 1998 The Wesleyan Publishing House 1-800-4-WESLEY |
