You, your family, and friends are invited to join us for Sunday School at 9:l5 a.m., and Sunday Morning Worship at l0:30 a.m. at 128 S. Palm in Ponca City, Oklahoma.  You are also invited to worship God with us in your home on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. on Ponca City Cable TV Channel 11.

We hold to the basic teachings of Christianity, and consider ourselves part of the whole church of Jesus Christ, made up of many denominations. We are followers of Jesus Christ; but the founder of our family of Christians, John Wesley, gave emphasis to certain Christian truths: 1.  Everyone can know God's love through Christ and be changed. This is God's amazing grace.  2.  This grace fills us with an assurance that we are God's beloved children, and gives us courage to live our lives with strength, integrity, love and compassion with Gods help.  3.  God wants us, both as individuals and as communities, to be better than we are.  So we are active in applying God's truth to our own lives, and to the larger communities of which we are a part.  4.  While we are bound together by these truths, we celebrate a wide diversity in opinions about many matters. John Wesley said that Methodists are not defined by their opinions, but by how much they love God and spread God's love abroad in the world.  United Methodists are tied together by a unique connectional structure enabling a strong presence throughout the world, and our local congregation is a vital part of this connection.

Today, Albright United Methodist Church is a church with a vision of "Making Disciples for Jesus Christ". We have a well-rounded program of worship, music, recreation, health,  fellowship, family and care ministry, Bible study and outreach through participation in Habitat for Humanity, Friendship Feast, Volunteers in Mission, and the Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.  For our ongoing service in local and world mission, we have been awarded the 5 Star Award of excellence by the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church.  You are invited to come and be part of this Vision which the Lord Jesus Christ has given us in being His Disciples.

HISTORY OF OUR ALBRIGHT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
IN PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA

Albright United Methodist Church was originally organized in l925 as the Lincoln Heights Chapel of The Evangelical Church.  It soon changed its name to the First Evangelical Church.  The Evangelical denomination was originally organized in l800 for German speaking Christians in Pennsylvania by Jacob Albright, a Methodist preacher.  In l946 our church became the First Evangelical United Brethren Church when two denominations, The Evangelical Church and the United Brethren Church, united. In l968, the Evangelical United Brethren Church united with The Methodist Church, and our church took the name, The Albright United Methodist Church.

The original facilities consisted of a wooden chapel building constructed in 1925 as a missionary project of the Kansas Conference of The Evangelical Church.  A sanctuary was built adjacent to the chapel, the basement of which was placed in service in l929.  Formal dedication of the new building was held November 23, 1930.  The additon of the educational section to the building was accomplished in l976.  In l990 another addition was completed which added an elevator.
