"Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15: 58)
We are in a season of change: even the weather has raced ahead from spring to summer heat, and back. Many members, family, neighbors and friends are facing the loss of jobs or income as our nation "weathers" this historic economic recession.
In the midst of change and challenge, I celebrate with you:
A full and joyful Easter Sunday - breakfast, worship, egg hunt, and all!I invite you to listen to one another, to pray for each other, and to remember that, no matter the season of loss or gain, we who belong to Christ are Easter people. As the apostle Paul reminds us "Therefore... in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
Exceeding our goal for the America for Christ offering
A tremendous response to the volunteer work day on April 25th
Dedicated volunteers and staff doing ministry with children and youth
A nearly complete parsonage make-over
Visitors in worship on Sundays
Church officers, leaders, and volunteers who quietly step up and keep up
The help and support of American Baptists in your search for a new pastor
Some have asked about the Easter Sunday benediction, from South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It’s worth remembering so I include it for you here:
Good is stronger than evil;Rev. Rhonda J. Cushman, Interim Pastor
Love is stronger than hate;
Light is stronger than darkness;
Life is stronger than death;
Victory is ours, through Him who loves us.
Amen.
