December, January, February Youth & Adult Sunday School Classes Classes begin December 4, 9:00 to 10:00 AM No Sunday School classes December 25 or January 1 Middle School & High School, taught by Dan Bender Is the Bible really true? How much confidence can we put in the written Word? And does it really matter? We will be asking these questions, and others, as it pertains to Genesis 1-11. If science has become our new god, how do we respond as Christians? We will be using The Creation Answers Book as our guide to a discussion on a number of issues surrounding the creation/evolution debate. International Lessons, "God Establishes a Faithful People" All adult elective, taught by Herman Ellera and Joanne Cole Do you wonder how to be a person of faith, how to put faith into action? Much of what Scripture teaches us about faith comes through stories of faithful people. In this quarter, we learn about the actions of some of the great heroes of our faith. The Christian community of faith is made possible by Abraham's faith and Jesus' redemptive death for us. We are truly changed, a community that lives by faith in the Son of God, who loved us, and died for us. An important part of that change is the fact that we are given the Spirit of God's Son, giving us the complete assurance that we are God's true children. May that fact cause us to walk as Abraham did!. Heroes of Faith (Young Adults Class) taught by Scott MacFeat This class will take a deeper look into the lives of those who could be considered heroes of faith. We will discover their struggles and triumphs and ultimately be encouraged to reevaluate our own relationship with God and hopefully strengthen our faith along the way. Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges All adult elective taught by Josie Esbin Have Christians become so preoccupied with the major sins of our society that we have lost sight of our need to deal with our own more subtle sins? Jerry Bridges addresses a dozen clusters of specific "acceptable" sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves--such as jealousy, anger, pride, unthankfulness, and judgmentalism. Jerry writes not from a height of spiritual accomplishment but from the trenches of his own battles with sin. In his admonitions, Jerry offers a message of hope in the profound mercy of the gospel and the transforming grace of God as the means to overcoming our subtle sins. This is a topical Bible study that will probably make us a little uncomfortable--to stimulate our growth in godliness!
