Guidepost Knit for Kids

10 am Wednesdays

Convener: Carol Trimble

We have been meeting since February 2006 and are making sweaters for the Guideposts Knit for Kids sweater project. They make simple, warm sweaters for cold and starving children around the world. Over the last 10 years, more than 400,000 handmade sweaters (gifts of love) have been sent to Africa, Romania, China, Turkey, Kosovo, India, Haiti and Equador, as well as Harlem, NY, Appalachia and Mississippi. The group knits or crochets the sweaters to reach around the world and give a child a hug. The patterns are very simple and we welcome new knitters or crocheters to come and learn, as we encourage each other in this wonderful project. We have finished over 165 sweaters since the group started with many more in process. If you want more information about the group contact Carol Trimble at 548.2509 or log on to www.guidepostsmag.com/sweater to see photos and patterns and find out more about the project.
