Brightwood Christian Church
A Friendly Church in the Heart of a Friendly Community

           You’re just like a pumpkin …

    A Christian is like being a pumpkin.  God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.

    Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.  He removes the seeds of fear, doubt, despair, hate, and greed.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

                                        Jim Reed ~ The Joyful Noiseletter

Humor is like sunshine . . .

                        Humor, like sunshine, brightens the day,

                        Lightens the burdens, takes care away!

                        Filling the corners, dusty and dark,

                        Lighting the candles, humor the spark.

                        Faces once gloomy, glowing now bright,

                        Made so by humor’s radiant light;

                        Lives that are broken, mended this way,

                        Mended by humor, laughing and gay.

                        Scowling and frowning at all of the fun,

                        Christians and sinners alike will shun;

                        People so blinded to fun and to wit,

                        Useless in service, for Christ, too, unfit.

                        Living for Jesus, smiling along,

                        Shadows dispelling with some joyous song;

                        Piercing the darkness of sinners’ black night,

                        Pointing to Jesus, the true joyous light.

                                    -Rev. Charles F. Foster
