Wisler Woods Chapel
In September 2000 Pastor Larry O'Neill had a problem. He had the youth of the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren coming to Skippack for their annual Peace Retreat, and they needed a project. Although he had just started at Skippack Pastor Larry was quick to see a significant unused resource - the woods. It was that confluence of youthful energy and pastoral need led to the blazing of a trail and a small clearing in the forest. The youth celebrated their accomplishment with the first worship servcie in what would be called "Wilser Woods Chapel."
Each Peace Retreat brought more improvements - widening the trail, outlining the clearing and the construction of a life-sized cross. Soon Skippack was holding their annual Easter Son-Rise Worship in their Chapel-in-the-Woods.
Then in early 2004, Jason Hugg, a member of Skippack and a student at Perkiomen Valley High School came to the church with a vision for more. For his Eagle Scout project, Jason proposed to add a 'boardwalk' running the 250 feet over the existing trail. He also proposed to add built in benches and add electric along the trail and into the chapel are. That plan became a reality in the summer of 2004, when Jason, and other members of Boy Scout Troop 105 built the Chapel area just as he proposed. The Wisler Woods Chapel was dedicated in October of 2004.
A trail around the circumference of the woods was added in the summer of 2007.
