Our Statements

Of Vision

We dream of being a self-governing, self-supporting, self-propagating, local church that declares and demonstrates holiness of heart and life.

Of Purpose

Mountain View Church of the Nazarene exists to magnify God by leading people to membership in Christ's body, maturity in Christ, ministry in the church and mission in the world.

Of Values

We value People - We believe every person was created by God, is loved by God and is therefore a person of value (Genesis 1:26; John 3:16).

We value Small Groups - We believe small groups are the most effective way to build relationships, stimulate spiritual growth, meet needs and develop leaders (Acts 2:46, 47).

We value Church Growth - We believe this church should make more and better disciples (Matthew 28:19, 20).

We value Empowering Leadership - We believe our leaders should focus on equipping other Christians to serve (Ephesians 4:12).

We value Gift-Oriented Mobilization - We believe every member of this church should be mobilized for ministry in the church and mission in the world on the basis of their spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:7-16).

We value Efficiency and Effectiveness - We believe that every board, team, task-force, ministry and program of this church should be regularly evaluated to determine if we are doing the right thing the best way (Mark 2:27).

Of Faith

Recognizing that the right and privilege of persons to church membership rest upon the fact of their being regenerate, we would require only such avowals of belief as are essential to Christian experience.  We, therefore, deem belief in the following statements to be sufficient.  We believe:

In one God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

That the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

That man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil and that continually.

That the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

That the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

That believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

That the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

That our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
