2009 ANNUAL CHURCH SCHOOL REPORT
MISSION STATEMENT: In recognition that the children are a vital and important part of our church, our Church School is committed to providing a loving and Christian atmosphere where children learn about Episcopal tradition, scripture, our love for God and His love for us in an environment that is caring, fun and inviting.
While our preschool through 5th grades continued with the Episcopal curriculum “All Things New,” the Middle school class is using a new Episcopal curriculum for teens “On the Edge”.
We had an exciting Fall this year as our 4th/5th grade class and the Middle school class moved over to the church house. The children were excited to have special classrooms to decorate and enjoy. Our 2nd/3rd grade class made a move downstairs, giving them a new classroom also. The moves gave us more space downstairs and a quieter atmosphere.
Worship for children preschool to 5th grades begins at 10, with parents invited to attend if they wish, followed by class time at 10:30. All children come up to the “big” church for Communion and special times.
Our monthly breakfast for Jr/Sr High students continues to be a great success with the kids. They are held the first Sunday of each month at 9am at the church house. While they have breakfast, they meet to discuss Youth Group plans. Thanks to those adults who make the breakfast and the Youth Group possible!
Outreach is done by the children with visits to Ware Presbyterian Home on a regular basis, plus special service projects during Lent and at Vacation Bible School, raising money for Heifer Project International and Hershey Medical Center. We also collected coloring books and created stuffed turtles that carried a small card of encouragement and love to the children at Hershey and AI DuPont Hospital.
Thanks be to God for the blessing of our wonderful staff and the children in our Church School!
Respectfully submitted
