In December 2008, St Christopher’s Church welcomed a new Pastor, the Rev. Barbara B. Rivers, joining our congregation as Priest-In-Charge.
Pastor Barbara comes to us from her most recent service as Interim Rector of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Prior to her service at St. James’, Pastor Barbara served as an interim rector for several other congregations throughout the Diocese of Pennsylvania. The Wardens and Vestry of St. Christopher’s are delighted and excited that she has agreed to join us as our Priest-In-Charge.
A Priest-In-Charge functions as the Rector but, without tenure. We have retained Pastor Barbara for a two-year term with an option to extend that term by mutual agreement. We also have the flexibility after that period to call Pastor Barbara as our permanent Rector or begin a search process for a new Rector. Pastor Barbara has all the other rights and responsibilities of a Rector. The focus of a Priest-In-Charge is the same as that of a Rector in support of our members and in achieving our missions.
