Our Stewardship Campaign for 2010 is in progress!! Please review your packet materials and prayerfully consider your Stewardship to St. Christopher's Church.

From Pastor Barbara's address on October 11, 2009:

Today St. Christopher’s church is beginning its fall Stewardship campaign.  It is the time to think about your pledge to this church for the upcoming 2010 year.  We are fortunate to have many generous people here at St. Christopher’s, without whom our buildings and our programs would not exist.  We are also in an economic recession, and most everyone is feeling pinched, and spending less.  Some more, some less – all of our situations are different.

For those of you who have not been able to make a financial pledge to this church, because you may lack the resources - your very presence here is a gift.

I know that others of you who have made pledges are struggling to fulfill them.  Your participation in the various ministries and numerous tasks that keep this church thriving have been indispensable, and we are blessed by whatever your contributions have been.

For those of you who have never participated in the financial stewardship of this church, your gift would be especially important at this time.  We are a small church, and each dollar counts.  We make do with much less than other churches, because we have some capable volunteers doing work that many churches pay for, such as cutting the grass, managing the finances and payroll, directing both of our choirs, serving as Sunday school superintendent, and housekeeping, to name several.  We don’t have a secretary, or a sexton.  And people often simply donate items when they are needed.  Blessings to all of you.

For those of you whose lives are less affected by the economic recession, your gift this year is essential.  St. Christopher’s depends on your ongoing generous support.  You are the backbone of this church, and you keep us standing and moving forward.  Thank you for your continuing strong support.

Of course, the reason this church exists at all is because of God’s love for all people, as shown in the person of Jesus, the Christ, who was born, and lived among us; who died on the cross and rose again; and whose Spirit continues to enliven and enlighten us.  We are here to proclaim that love in word and deed to this community and to the world; to continue Christ’s mission of reconciliation with God, with our neighbor, and with all of creation.  May we grow in our desire to seek God’s reign first so that God can use us to further God’s kingdom on earth - today, and in the year to come.  Amen.

KJV-  14 all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

21C KJV- 14For all things come from Thee, and from Thine own have we given Thee.

NIV- 14Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

NASB- 14… For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.

NLT- 14 … Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!

1 Chronicles 29:14-19 (The Message) David’s thanksgiving in reference to the materials gathered for the building of the Temple:

"But me—who am I, and who are these my people, that we should presume to be giving something to you?  Everything comes from you; all we're doing is giving back what we've been given from your generous hand.  As far as you're concerned, we're homeless, shiftless wanderers like our ancestors, our lives mere shadows, hardly anything to us.

God, our God, all these materials—these piles of stuff for building a house of worship for you, honoring your Holy Name—it all came from you! It was all yours in the first place!

I know, dear God, that you care nothing for the surface—you want us, our true selves—and so I have given from the heart, honestly and happily. And now see all these people doing the same, giving freely, willingly—what a joy!

O God, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep this generous spirit alive forever in these people always, keep their hearts set firmly in you.

And give my son Solomon an uncluttered and focused heart so that he can obey what you command, live by your directions and counsel, and carry through with building The Temple for which I have provided."
