The LCES was founded in 1893 to assist in the building of Lutheran churches. Congregations of the SWPA Synod of the ELCA continue the mission of the Society by becoming members, with annual dues of $50.00. The Board of Managers, composed of 1/3 clergy and 2/3 laypeople, governs the Society.

The purpose of the Society is to help churches with energy conservation, repair and renovations of existing facilities. The Society's primary mission is to assist congregations that have limited funds to address the needs of their physical plant.

By helping congregations in such situations, the Society facilitates the mission of the ELCA in Southwestern Pennsylvania and affirms its benevolent character.

3. Copies of Last Three (3) Years Auditors Reports and/or Financial Compliance Review.

5. Copies of at least two (2) estimates of work to be completed.

6. Extract from Council Minutes stating the congregation voted to authorize church Council to apply for this loan.
