ORATORY OF ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA

The Oratory of St. Catherine of Siena is a constituent ministry of the Independent Catholic Christian Church.  Its primary focus in on prayer and ministry for the church as a whole, and for the "'Shalom' of the city", as well as individuals.

The Hebrew word "Shalom" means peace, but it is a peace that is far more than just the absence of conflict.  It more fully means "wholeness", which includes health in all of its forms.

The Oratory has a special concern for the "Shalom" of Jerusalem, praying and acting for a just and secure resolution of the conflict there and in the Middle East in general.  Prayer is also offered for the various US and worldwide cities that individuals live in.  Because the chaplain lives in Boston, she has a special concern for that city.

Because "Shalom" is an inclusive concept, the Oratory's ministry also includes actions and prayers for social justice, especially those that affect the city.

The sacraments are an integral part of healing and peace, and one of the goals of the Oratory is to make them available for all baptized Christians, regardless of deonmination, race, sexual orientation, gender identity or presentation, or any other label that divides us.  Baptism, confession, and anointing for healing are open to all.

The chaplain, the Reverend Sandra Hutchinson, participates in a weekly house eucharist on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in Jamaica Plain in Boston.  (More information and directions are available from her at beguine2@yahoo.com.)

God bless you.
