H. David
McElroy, C.L.P., Commissioned as Pastor for the
East Liberty Presbyterian Church In Vanderbilt, Pa
Mr. McElroy, of McClellandtown, was
commissioned by Redstone Presbytery on May 16, 2006. He begins
serving as leader of the Vanderbilt congregation on June 1, 2006.
David has been a lifelong resident of
Fayette County. His father, Harry and mother, Mary live in
Hopwood. He graduated from Laurel Highlands High School in 1973,
from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978 with a bachelor of science
in biology, from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in
1981, and from the Commissioned Lay Pastor program at the Pittsburgh
Theological Seminary in 2003. David is a licensed funeral director
and has owned and operated the McElroy Funeral Home in
McClellandtown since 1986. He has accepted God’s call to the
ministry and is looking forward to serving the East Liberty
Presbyterian church in Vanderbilt as their commissioned lay pastor.
David and his wife, Cindy, have two
sons and a daughter. Jeffery is 21 years old and will be entering
his senior year at Waynesburg College, majoring in business and
marketing. Breanne, 19, just completed her freshman year at
Waynesburg College and is majoring in criminal justice and political
science. Seth, 18, will be entering George Washington University in
the fall where he will major in international affairs. All three
will be away from home at various times this summer traveling abroad
or working out of town.
Cindy and David are members of the
McClellandtown Presbyterian church, where they serve as elders,
choir members, Sunday school teachers and Sr. High youth leaders.
East Liberty church leaders are very
pleased that David has accepted this calling and are excited to join
him as he leads this congregation. The East Liberty Presbyterian
Church began its ministry in 1838 (

Sunday, June 4, 2006 David will lead
the congregation in worship. On this day the annual
recognition of fifty year members will be celebrated during the
10:30 A.M. worship service. Following the worship service a covered
dish dinner will be held to welcome Pastor McElroy and his family
into our fellowship and to honor the fifty year members. We
pray that you will join us on this special day.
