Operation 1 Timothy

The Session of the Church, which is a governing body, voted to begin Operation First Timothy in 2007. This refers to a book in the New Testament where the Christian Church is commanded to pray for those in authority so that we may all live a peaceable life in godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:1-2).  Because we take this mandate seriously we believe it is our responsibility to obey it. Every time our congregation or any part of it meets for any reason, we will take a moment to pray for the public official who has accepted this invitation for prayer and given us his or her requests for that month.  This month (May) we are praying for City of Reading Interim Managing Director Ryan Hottenstein,

Who Are We?

What Are You Seeking?

First Presbyterian Church,
an historical congregation founded in 1814,
draws upon its rich traditions while seeking to adapt to the times in which we live. We offer the benefits of children's, youth and adult ministries, a blended worship service with a touch of both the traditional and contemporary, excellent music ministries, prayer and healing ministries, and a growing commitment to missions both at home, nationally and internationally.

We realize that everybody who visits a church is looking for something different. Some seek to explore Christian faith in a gracious environment. Others seek healing from hurt, or ministry to their family. Some look for a particular style of teaching, music or worship. We believe that God has a place for you somewhere, even if this is not the church for you. In the meantime, we hope you experience something of the presence and love of Jesus Christ at First Pres, not just in our service and classes, but from us as well
