Operation 1 Timothy

The Session of the Church, which is a governing body, voted to begin Operation First Timothy in 2007. This refers to a book in the New Testament where the Christian Church is commanded to pray for those in authority so that we may all live a peaceable life in godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:1-2).  Because we take this mandate seriously we believe it is our responsibility to obey it. Every time our congregation or any part of it meets for any reason, we will take a moment to pray for the public official who has accepted this invitation for prayer and given us his or her requests for that month. This month (September 2009) we will pray for Congressman Jim Gerlach.
