2011 FPC Scholarship Overview:

First Presbyterian Church has several endowments dedicated to the financial support of members or the children of members who are furthering their education. Each of the endowments has a particular intended use deemed by the provider in which the applicant must meet certain requirements. The FPC Trustees Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting eligible applicants and to ensure that the appropriate allocation is distributed annually. The funds are based on interest bearing endowments with the exception of the Thompson Fund, therefore annual amounts may vary.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Member or child of member of First Presbyterian Church
• Enrolled full time with a college and in good standing 
• Submits the following to the church office no later than June 15th.

1.  Completed application  
2. Current college transcript  
3. One page letter requesting the particular scholarship you are interested in and why you are the best candidate for this fund. 
4.  If you have a situation deeming a particular need (i.e. 2 students in family enrolled as full time students, family hardship including illness, unemployment, etc.), please include a statement in the letter explaining this.

• Applicants may submit for more than one scholarship if they meet the eligibility requirements.

Selection & Approval Process

• Scholarship applications will be reviewed for completeness ensuring they meet the fund requirements
• Selections for the scholarships will be made by the Trustees Committee based on the following:

1. Candidate meets fund requirements 
2. If there is more than one applicant for a fund, selections will be made based on:

• Application, letter and transcripts demonstrate best candidacy for this fund

• Not a previous recipient of this fund

• Demonstration of financial need

• Upon board approval, notifications will be made to the individual and posted in the bulletin & Ivy Tower

• Checks will be made payable to the educational institutions and mailed to the individual no later than July 30
