THE CENTER FOR MINISTRY ADVANCEMENT

Planning for the Future of First Presbyterian Church

In December 2008 our Session voted to engage the services of the Center for Ministry Advancement (CMA) to guide us through the process of making short and long range goals for the church.  A Vision Committee was selected : John Roland (chair), Sherry Sanger, Dan Cooper, Betty Cooper, Nancy Alley, Charlotte Cooper and Jake Kretzing. This committee, along with our Session and staff have been involved in the process with the CMA. The most recent report to the congregation was an April 11, 2010  tour of the building highlighting projects completed as well as planned. On August 29 a Staff Appreciation Sunday was celebrated with pertinent information about what's next for our staff as they lead the vision. Please pray for those working on this project, and speak with any member of the Vision Committee as questions arise.

Our Vision

First Presbyterian Church seeks to be a mulit-generational community of authentic followers of Jesus who are committed to transforming lives in the Reading region.

Our Priorities

We will continue to grow existing ministries and launch new ministries that align with our vision, have qualified leadership and volunteers in place, and for which the church has the resources to sustain.

We believe that by focusing a portion of resources on these areas for a set period of time, it will help us accomplish our ministry vision and result in greater kingdom impact.

Here is an overview of our ministry priorities for 2009-2011:

OUTREACH -- Reaching the community through relational evangelism, missional service and attractional ministry.

CONNECTION -- Helping guests feel welcome and build authentic relational connections within the FPC family.

NEXT GENERATIONS -- Seeking to intentionally attract and serve children through young adults in the FPC region.

LEADERSHIP -- Enhancing the leadership of FPC necessary for successfully accomplishing its vision and priorities.

RESOURCES -- Ensuring FPC has the facilities and finances to successfully accomplish its vision and priorities.
