Elmer & Beverly Wolfenden
In his youth, Dr. Wolfenden attended the Holmes Presbyterian Sunday School. Serving as Wycliffe Translators in the Philippines, the Wolfendens committed themselves to learning the unwritten language of Masbatenyo, writing an alphabet and translating the Bible into that language. Before they retired, and after many years of work, they completed the New Testament in 1994. After retirement, they moved to North Carolina, where they continue to translate the Old Testament and do all kinds of translation work for Wycliffe Translators in the Philippines. If you wish to help support the Wolfenden's, you may do so through Holmes Church.
Janet Morris
For more than twenty-eight years, Janet served with Wycliffe's Bible Translators, first in Ecuador, then in Peru in administration supporting the translators. When work in Wycliffe's Peru jungle center was almost completed and the office closed several years ago, Janet accepted a home assignment at Wycliffe's Lancaster (PA) office, where she continues to do her dedicated work, now serving as a Recruiter. Janet still needs financial support in order to work full-time with Wycliffe. If you can make even a small regular contribution to Janet, you may do so through Holmes Church.
Sue Howard
Sue Howard ministers in the depressed region of Eastern Kentucky with the independent Scripture Memory Mountain Mission. As a young couple more than forty years ago, her husband, Bob, and she attended Holmes Church where Bob served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. Later Bob became an ordained minister and they moved to Kentucky to continue their ministry with the mission. Bob also became the pastor of a local church. God blessed them with five children and an important ministry in that needy area. Several years ago, God, in his wisdom, called Bob home to his eternal reward and rest. We thank God that Sue has continued their decades of ministry with SMMM--even with limited mission support. If you wish to help support Sue, you may give to her work through Holmes Church.
Peter and Hend Shadid
Syrian natives, Peter and Hend dedicated their lives to sharing the Gospel to the Lebanese people through preaching and teaching. They established a large Christian school which they had to evacuate because of regional war. While now retired, they continue to serve with Arab World Ministries in Orlando, Florida, where they established a church for Arab Christians and reach out in Jesus' name to the more than 100,000 Arab students in the Orlando area.
Paul & Lori Dickason
Paul and Lori serve in Budapest, Hungary, with and through Campus Crusade for Christ. The Dickasons were members of our Media Presbyterian Church when Paul was a high school teacher. Answering God's call, they traveled to Budapest to do urban and university mission ministry some twenty years ago. God has richly blessed their outreach work. The large CCC staff in Budapest is almost totally staffed by young Hungarians now who have become Christians and answered God's call to share the Gospel with their fellow citizens. Besides the university work, the Dickasons have assisted in the formation of two new Hungarian churches. Through these years, Paul and Lori have reared three children. Among other types of ministry, CCC has sent Paul to many neighboring countries in eastern Europe emerging from communism to train their young staffs in the study of the Bible. As the Dickason children matured, Lori has become a teacher in and administrator of the English-speaking middle-school of the local Christian Day School. Unfortunately, one of the Dickason's biggest financial supporters has recently passed away and they need new support to make up for their considerable loss. If you feel God's call to assist them, you may do so through Holmes Church.
Daryl and Carol Van Dyken
The Van Dykens serve Jesus Christ with the great, world-wide Christian radio network called Trans World Radio. Recently, they moved from their long-time center of work in South Africa back to the States. They established their new residence in a Philadelphia suburb. Daryl is an electrical engineer who has built and maintained some of TWR's great broadcasting towers. Now, he is developing TWR's Media Asset Management System that has him traveling the globe with Carol to universities speaking to engineering and computer students and at various mission festivals. They must continue to generate financial support for their important work. Let us pray for their safety in travel and success in funding their mission. You can give to their important work through Holmes Church.
Steve Theis
In this past year, Steve and Marissol and family moved from their work in Brazil to become the directors of Word of Life Fellowship work in Costa Rica. They began their first three-week camping season in January and had more than 600 young people attend, with many first-time decision for Jesus Christ. You can give to their important work through Holmes Church.
