Dingmans Ferry United Methodist Church
115 Myck Road Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328

In 1834 The Methodist Episcopal Church chartered a congregation in Dingmans Ferry.

For it's first 37 years the church followed the wilderness tradition of meeting in homes or other public spaces. They were ministered to by local lay leaders with monthly visits from Circuit Riders, who were clergy that traveled from church to church. This is where the Methodist tradition of monthly communion started.

On November 10, 1871, the congregation dedicated its new home on Route 209, about a quarter mile south of Route 739.

Shortly after the building celebrated a century of commitment to its community, the Army Corps of Engineers purchased the church property in the interest of the Tock's Island Dam Project.

With a firm determination to go on, the fourty member strong congregation dedicated our present building, located on Myck Road, on June 29, 1978.

Many of the stones used on the front of the church were recovered from the foundation of the old building.

The beautiful stain glass windows behind our altar are there as a reminder and a testament to our founding members.

The church continued to grow.

Our parking lot was paved in 1982, and our Parsonage was constructed and dedicated in 1987.

In that same year the tradition of the Circuit Riders ended, and our first full time pastor was assigned.

In March of 1991, thoughts of expansion began as whispers and eventually grew into meetings. These meetings produced concrete ideas.

Five years later, after extensive planning, in November of 1996, a meeting of the entire congregation was held to commit to a plan of action and discern the mission that God chose for us. We officially became a church that was "Growing To Serve" !

In September of 1998, we dedicated our newly renovated church!

Our expanded sanctuary, new fellowship hall, six new classrooms and additional office space allowed us to open up new areas of ministry and community service.

In 2004 our old kitchen was rennovated into a modern facility, providing additional opportunities for christian fellowship and community outreach.

Recently we have cleared several acres of property, with many uses in mind, that will further serve our community!

As a church body of Christ, we will continually be

"Growing to Serve", so that we may always be

"Serving To Grow"!
