In the United Methodist Church, it is encouraged for Laity to assist a Clergy Person in the serving of Holy Communion. Once the bread & juice have been consecrated by the Clergy, the Worship Leader, and other members of the church who are asked or volunteer, will share in the gift of serving communion to the congregation. Laity may even be authorized to carry the consecrated elements to shut-ins and those in hospitals and nursing homes.

Those who set up communion for a service or serve communion during a service are called Eucharistic Ministers.

If this is a ministry you are being called into, you may speak with Pastor Doung or Pastor Rich, or a member of the Worship Committee.
