In the United Methodist Church Eucharistic Ministry involves preparing the communion as well as serving it.

Preparing the communion elements for service is a deep and meaniful ministry. The Eucharistic minister pours the cup, places the bread and carries the elements to the table. The elements are then returned to the earth following each service.
