Pastor: Rev. David Tatgenhorst

St. Luke Church is a church of open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We welcome you to worship with us any Sunday at 10 am. Our pastor is Rev. David Tatgenhorst. We offer a children's program called the Children's Celebration each Sunday during the worship service. The children gather in worship each Sunday. Most Sundays the children gather at the altar for a "theme talk" with the pastor or a congregant. They are introduced to the theme of the morning celebration and then the children go downstairs for separate programs. Sam Rotz, Youth and Children Ministry intern, teaches the older class, with help from parents. Chrisnie Pagana teaches a class for the younger children. There is also a nursery for toddlers or babies staffed by .Sophie Kybert.

Each Sunday's morning celebration includes inspiring music directed by Organist/Choir Director Clyde Shive, jr., relevant preaching, and the presence of the Spirit. (Click here for a copy of a recent sermon at St. Luke.)

We welcome you to worship with us at St. Luke any Sunday at 10 am.

Living In Faith Everyday

We invite all members and friends of St. Luke to join one of our LIFE groups. The acronym stands for Living In Faith Everyday. You may want to start with the new members' class which meets with the pastor. These classes are a chance to learn about the faith, get to know other members, and to explore your particular faith journey. Then continue your faith journey through one of these regular groups:

Parents' LIFE group: meets the first and third Tuesday of the month over a shared dinner. Childcare provided along with Bible study and parenting support.

Exercising our Faith LIFE group: meets every second and fourth Monday evening for yoga stretching, and spiritual growth and support.

Women's Workshop: meets Tuesday mornings for spiritual support and lunch.

College Students' LIFE group: meets according to students schedule for dinner, Bible study and personal support, a "home away from home."

Homebound Visitation LIFE group: meets Monday evenings at the homes of homebound members and friends for singing and Bible study.

Men's Breakfast LIFE group: meets the first Sunday of every month at 8 am before the morning worship.

Sunday Bible Study: meets every Sunday after church for intensive Bible Study.

Sundays in May

Ascension Sunday May 4, 2008  Holy Communion

The power of prayer and a community at prayer is the theme of our service this morning. The sermon “Community of Prayer” uses Jesus’ prayer for the world at the end of his farewell speech as the starting point for our own prayers for the world.
We join in the meal of Holy Communion this morning. Our communion offering will go to the Methodist Home for Children.
  Read: Acts 1:6-14, John 17:1-11

Day of Pentecost  May 11, 2008  Mothers’ Day

Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the great festival of Pentecost, the birthday of the church, and the coming of the Holy Spirit. This year, Pentecost coincides with the secular celebration of Mothers’ Day. “The Unauthorized Spirit” addresses how the Spirit may lead us to unexpected places.
We will recognize our mothers this morning and also members of St. Luke who have been loyal to this church for 50 years or more.

  Read: Numbers 11:24-30, Acts 2:1-21

Trinity Sunday May 18, 2008   Musicale

Our Adult class has been studying the stories of creation, including the very first story of the Bible: “In the beginning, God created…” We have learned how this story is true for us without taking it completely literally. This morning’s sermon “Our Part in Creation” will explore how our faith and our scientific understanding or evolution can complement rather than contradict each other.
After church today, we gather in Lurwick Hall for delicious potluck luncheon and our annual Musicale, sponsored by the St. Luke choir.
  Read: Genesis 1:1-2:4a, Matthew 28:16-20

May 29, 2008 Memorial Day weekend

On a Memorial Day weekend that heralds the beginning of summer, we listen to Jesus’ advice, “Do not worry about tomorrow…” We give thanks for the beauty of God’s creation, re-dedicating ourselves to live in the present with care and gratitude. The sermon is “Do Not Worry”
Read: Isaiah 49: 8-16a; Matthew 6: 24-34
