Welcome to Our Parish Web Site!
Welcome to the parish website of St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Church! St. Ignatius is a rapidly growing parish within the Diocese of Miami and the Southeast of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, under the leadership of His Emeninence Metropolitan PHILIP and His Grace Bishop ANTOUN. Inside you will find a site under development for the spread of God's Word through his Holy Orthodox Church. Located in historic Franklin in middle Tennessee, our parish is nestled in a beautiful valley off Peytonsville Road at 3535 St. Ignatius Lane. Our parish priest is The Very Reverend Father Stephen Rogers and is assisted by The Very Reverend Robert Sanford. The Very Reverend Father Gordon Walker is pastor emeritus. The Orthodox Church The Orthodox Church is a group of churches founded by Christ, and anointed by the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1). The basis of the Orthodox Church's life and teachings are the Holy Scriptures and Holy Tradition. The primary mission of the Orthodox Church is the continuation of the redemptive ministries of salvation begun by its founder, Jesus Christ. The term "Orthodox", as used by the Orthodox Church today, comes to us from the fifth century. It has two meanings, which are closely related. The first definition is "true teaching". The second, which is preferred, is "upright praise". The Orthodox Church is the Church that worships God in a true and upright manner. To bless, praise, and glorify God, and to bring people to a saving knowledge of Him (1 Tim 2:4), is the fundamental purpose of the Church. All Her activities are directed toward this goal.
