Troparian for St. Ignatius of Antioch

By choosing the Apostles way of life, you succeeded to their

throne. Inspired by God you found the way to divine

contemplation through the practice of virtue. After teaching the

word of truth without error, you defended the Faith to the very

shedding of your blood, O holy Martyr among bishops, Ignatius,

entreat the Lord our God to save our souls.

The ANTIOCHIAN WOMEN PROJECT for the year 2009-10 will be helping to establish a monastery at the Antiochian Village in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.  Mother Alexandra is currently residing at the conference center there and is excited to be the first nun at this new-to-be monastery!

This will make the second monastic presence in our archdiocese.  Mother Nektaria who resides at the St. Paul Skete in  Grand Junction, Tennessee outside Memphis, has been amongst us for several years now!  St. Ignatius sends Mother Nektaria monthly support.  You may send her prayer requests that she will faithfully pray, daily, and is available for retreats or welcomes you to retreat to the Skete with notice. (St. Paul Skete, P. O. Box 35, Grand Junction, Tennessee. 38039)

Information and Resources

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women of North America was founded in 1973 through the vision of His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP Saliba as an organization of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Its purpose is to develop a spirit of Christian leadership, awareness, and commitment; to foster a genuine expression of love and service through works of charity; and to instill a sense of fellowship and a deeper understanding of the heritage and traditions of the Orthodox Church.

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Women of North America brings the women of the Antiochian Archdiocese together for prayer, charitable works, and mutual support as we strive to fulfill our calling in Christ through serving others. The Antiochian Women are organized according to region, but come together for communication and collaboration through the North American Board (NAB), which consists of officers and delegates from each region. The Antiochian Women communicate through this web page, with information on programs, such as a scholarships for women who wish to continue their education and spiritual resources such as the lives of women saints. Back issues of DIAKONIA and SOPHIA, print newsletters that keep the members of Antiochian Women inspired and informed, can also be found here in PDF format.

We are encouraged by the words of His Grace Bishop JOSEPH who, when addressing the General Assembly once said: “When everyone left our Lord Jesus Christ alone on the cross, the women were there. Can you see how important the women are? You are the myrrh-bearing women.”

Christian Education

St. Ignatius is blessed by children of all ages!  Their christian education if very important to us. Under the direction of our church school director, Ashley Kevorkian, St. Ignatius offers church school education from the beginning of the church year in September until the end of May.  Ages 3 to teens have Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday.  Vacation Church School is held each summer.  The children are actively involved in major feast days as well as weekly services.  We offer a nursery for infants up to age 2 on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until about 11:00 a.m. when they are brought to Divine Liturgy by the nursery care workers.  Church School is not in session during the summer months and resumes at the beginning of the church year in September.

They were instrumental in launching a youth camp in our diocese and continue to give of their talents at Camp St. Thekla each summer. Their usual weekly meeting is on Sunday evenings. Find out more about Teen SOYO (Society of Orthodox Youth Organizations) including scholarship information @ http://www.antiochian.org/soyo

Project Mexico IS HAPPENING NOW!  Pray for our teens and those they are serving!
