Living Life to its Fullest
I once said that in front of a pastor that I am not rich. He quickly corrected me and said that I may not be rich in money, but I am rich in the spirit and my spiritual gifts. After some reflection I must agree that he is right. And even after looking over the church budget for the year I had to say that we are still a rich church. And you can feel safe in reading on I am not going to make a plea for your pockets. True riches lie in our spiritual gifts and our love. Without them our church will not grow. There are great buildings in our community empty not because of money problems just because they won’t reach the community. Pastor has said that we have everything we need in the house, Amen and most certainly true. But if we don’t share what we have with our community, what good is it? I have to admit I am one of the first people who has put my gifts on the shelf. I have dusted off one or two. But I have also seen how others have stepped up in areas that I have never seen them in before. Arime Dickerson is one that comes to mind, always serving in the church where ever she is needed. She has not gotten “too old or too cute” to light the candles or make sure Pastor has water on the pulpit. The choir members some I have never seen sing before are stepping up to make a joyful noise. Ann Dandridge inviting people to our church. The list can easily go on for pages. Lets get back on task though, our gifts, are they being used to the fullest? It is hard to only use 10% of your gift. If we can do all things through Christ why can’t we do all things for Christ? Look back on your life, when do you the most joy? Is it when you are alone or when you are sharing that joy with others? Each one of us has something that God wants us to offer to him and to our fellow man. It may not seem much to you at all, but it means the world to someone you share it with. We have the greatest gift to offer our community, but they have to be ready to receive it. That means we have to be ready to receive them. We cannot expect Cross of Calvary to remain the same. We have to open up the gifts we have and share them with the community. We got to open the doors and brighten up the church, with our spiritual gifts, with our smile. with our hearts. So search the closets of your hearts and see if you got some gifts in there collecting dust. If that gift needs some polish that is okay the church is a great place for it to be shined up. Let us be that beacon that we have claimed to be. We have spoken it to be so. Now let us employ our gifts to make it so, through Jesus Christ, He who makes all things possible. Live and love to the fullest.
