Prayer is an exceptional powerful part our spiritual armory. The scriptures speak about the weapons of our warfare: they're not carnal (flesh/blood) but mighty through God. (2 Corinthians 10:4, 5) To the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that would exalt itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
That's why we are to instructed to P. U. S. H. (Pray until something happens) pray without ceasing. Pray even when we don't really know how to pray. (Romans 8:26) He gives us his precious Holy Spirit to groan that which we cannot utter. For the Spirit knows what the Father is speaking and he knows the heart of the Father . Your most powerful piece of armor is your ability to connect to the heart of God through the art of prayer.
So pray even when you don't think it is working. Pray when you're up and pray when you're down. Pray on and be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. (Ephesians 6:10)
