West Hills Neighborhood Cookout Set
WHPC hosts the annual neighborhood cookout to bring friends and neighbors together.  The cookout this year will be on October 17 between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm.  Hot dogs and drinks are provided.  Attendees are asked (but not required) to  bring a side item.
We are glad that we can use our resources and facilities to help encourage fellowship among our neighbors in West Hills.

Neighborhood Cookout '08

WHPC hosted the 2008 version of the West Hills Neighborhood Cookout on Oct. 11.  Under the supervision and guidance of Chip and Lou Dunn (Lou pictured above) we had another successful, fun and festive time with our neighbors in West Hills.  There were approximately 75 in attendance.  This year the addition of inflatable play sets were a big hit with the children (and the parents too).  We got to visit with old friends and meet new neighbors.  This is the 7th year we have held the event.  The residents of West Hills appreciate the opportunity to gather for food and fellowship with their neighbors.

West Hills Welcomes New Members
West Hills has  brought in a few new members in recent days.  Dennis and Pat Love, who first visited with friends at our Christmas Eve service, have continued worshipping with us over the past few months.  The shared their faith with the Session at the May stated meeting and were received as members by transfer.
On Sunday, May 11 the Session met in a called meeting to hear the testimony of Mark and Kim Hellmann and Tina Pemberton.  Mark Hellmann will not actually be a 'new' member since he grew up in the church and never transferred away.  His name will be restored to the roll along with his wife, Kim.  They met while Mark was in school in Michigan and attended church together.  We are grateful to have them in Tennessee and now members of the church.  The photo below is the public profession of faith by Kim and Covenant Baptism of Sarah on May 18.

Likewise, Tina Pemberton, our church musician, shared here faith and intent to join the church with the elders.  It is not mandatory that the church musician be a member.  Tina has fallen right in and become part of our church family--participating in WIC and working hard to develop the children's choir.  We are glad to receive her as a full member of the church.
