The Discipleship Strategy of Lakeview Baptist Church Student Ministry

Understanding that the parent is the number one influencer in the faith development of a child. As one author put it, “when it comes to influencing the faith development of a teenager, the youth minister or Sunday school teacher will always be ’Robin’, and the parent will always be ‘Batman’.” In other words, compared to the influence of the parent , the youth staff and volunteer workers will always be your sidekick. It is one of our goals to make you, the parent, a hero in your teenagers life. True, this realization may not happen before they graduate, but the day is coming when they will realize the value of what you taught them and the example you set before them. The student ministry wants you to get involved in going through the discipleship process with your teenager.

Weekly Activities

We offer a weekday preschool program in the Children's Department at Lakeview Baptist Church.
Weekday Preschool Program
The preschool offers classes for the following ages: Tuesdays and Thursdays
1.  Three-year-old-class
2.  Four-year-old-class

Bible and Life/ Sunday School (9:00 AM)

New Born Babies- Four-year-old-class

Here's what is so special about Bible-in-Life. Our Bible-based lessons are sound, easy-to-teach and are designed to impact every student that is entrusted to your care-from ages 3 to 103! And as the name implies Bible-in-Life helps each student put Bible truths to work where it counts—in their everyday life.

Service Care (10:15 AM)

Another way to help in the building of a solid spiritual foundation is through Service Care.  This is offered for preschoolers (newborn-three-years-old) during the 10:15 a.m. worship service.

Sunday Evening Childcare
(Sundays 6:15 p.m.)
We also offer childcare on Sunday evenings during the Sunday night service for ages Newborn-age 3.  Children age 4-6 attend  evening worship service with their parents. We believe this gives time for the family to worship together and for our elementary children to have exposure to our senior pastor.

Books Recommended for Parents

Shepherding a Child’s Heart
By Tedd Tripp
One of the best single volume overviews of biblical parenting, with a special and much needed emphasis on addressing the child’s heart- his beliefs and motives- and bringing the Gospel to the child in practical ways.

Peacemaking for Families
By Ken Sande
An excellent biblical guidebook for addressing marriage and family conflict.

Sacred Parenting
By Gary Thomas
"Sacred Parenting" works off a simple premise: Raising children shapes the parent every bit as much as parents shape their children. Many books have been written about how to parent a child effectively, how to become a better parent, and how effective parenting produces better kids. "Sacred Parenting" explores an entirely different reality: how parenting affects the parent.

What the Bible Says About Parenting: Biblical Principles for Raising Godly Children

By John MacArthur
This is not a book on child psychology, nor is it proposing a new parenting method.  It is simply presenting the principles of biblical parenting with as much clarity as possible.

Family Practice: God’s Prescription for a Healthy Home

By Sproul, R. C., ed.
This book is a great introduction into understanding the biblical concept of the covenants and how they relate to the family. Each chapter is written by a different author, such as R.C. Sproul Jr., his father, Douglas and Nancy Wilson, Elizabeth Elliot, Franklin Sanders, Edna Gerstner, and others.

Children's Director Clint Overton

Lakeview Baptist Church believes in parterning with parents by offering a variety of opportunities for children to learn about Christ and their relationship with Him. For this reason, we offer the following activities in which children may participate throughout the year.

Bible and Life/ Sunday School (9:00 AM)

Kindergarten-6th Grade

Here's what is so special about Bible-in-Life. Our Bible-based lessons are sound, easy-to-teach and are designed to impact every student that is entrusted to your care-from ages 3 to 103! And as the name implies Bible-in-Life helps each student put Bible truths to work where it counts—in their everyday life.

Children's Choir Sunday Night (5:30)(Seasonal)

Children experience the joy of praising God through music by participating in worship at various times during the year, as well as by presenting musicals and other events.  Choirs are the perfect place for your children to develop their musical skills and capture a love and passion for worship. To get started just visit one of our weekly rehearsals that are each Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. in the Children's room.

TeamKID Wednesday Night (6:00 PM)

TeamKID is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. Every part of TeamKID—Bible stories, Scripture memory, life application and recreation—all connect to teach life lessons to kids.

Children's Bible Drill is for Grades 4-6, coordinated by Steve Hunter. (Note this is a time, which allows older children to participate in Discipleland.)
