Faith UMC pastor Rob Martin grew up in DeSoto, Missouri. He attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri and received his seminary education at Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas. He earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2000 from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. His study courses in this program focused on John Wesley and the poor.
Since coming to the Memphis area in 1991, Rob has served at St. John's UMC and St. Luke's UMC. In 2001 he and his family moved to Oakland to serve as the founding pastor of Faith UMC. He also serves as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Oakland. Rob is a gifted storyteller and preacher with a heart for serving the poor and needy.
Rob's wife, Amy serves as the musical director for Faith UMC. She has been a church musician since she began playing piano for her church when she was 14 years old. In college, she studied Church Music at the University of Redlands in California (her home state), and then attended SMU where she studied Sacred Music and Choral Conducting. She has served a number of churches both large and small, in California, Texas and Tennessee, including ten years as the Director of Music Ministries at St. Luke's UMC in Memphis.
Amy has been a music and worship leader for local, national, and regional retreats and conferences. She currently serves as the Worship Coordinator for the Memphis Annual Conference. She also currently leads the Program Ministries Team at Faith UMC.
Rob and Amy have two wonderful and talented daughters, Brittany and Ashley.
