Epiphany 2003

Christmas Season officially comes to an end with the annual Epiphany Party at the Cogburn House

For the past fourteen or fifteen years, the twelve days of Christmas have ended at the home of Doug, Debbie, Jessica, Lillie, and Lydia Cogburn with their Epiphany party and open house.

There's always plenty of food available, but it's not the 45-item buffet pictured on the right that brings people back year after year; rather, it's the gathering and fellowship of old friends and new acquaintances from Hardins Chapel, Bradburn Hill, Frontier Health, Wal-Mart, the Bird Circle Community, the Waverly Group Home, and many other people who are kind enough to join the Cogburn's every year for visiting and eating new dishes and old favorites such as country ham.

This year brought an early-morning threat of snow, but so far it has never snowed on an Epiphany party, although there has been a close call as related in the Inspirational Writings Section of this web site: 20 Things I Learned from My Dad, Lesson 12: Entertain Freely.

Below are pictures of some of the attendees this year.  Several people missed having their picture taken because they were there when the photographer was too busy cooking to take pictures.

The people below are some of the friends and family who have been coming to the Epiphany party for many years.

Every year there's a few people who have never been to the Epiphany party before.  Above Terry Weems and Nancy King demonstrate their belief that anybody who's not at the party should have their head examined.
