The Chancel Cross
Haynes Gass
1943-1994
through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light: Take my hand, Precious Lord, lead me home.
He was a man of the cross; a man of solid belief and firm faith. He knew who held his hand. It was to the cross that he looked for his strengh and for his guidance. And he guided many of us to it by his years of teaching, counseling, and everyday living. He was especially concerned with young people and making sure that they were led to and accepted the cross, and he was always careful that everything about him reflected the cross and his Savior, the way he lived and spoke and taught and treated others and even in his death we were led back to the cross, the cross that he is counting on us to lead others to. To help remind us of our calling and salvation and mission, this chancel cross is dedicated to the worship and service of God and to the memory of Haynes Gass, and also Spencer Britton, and Darrel Elrod, Sr.
