The Tone Chimes

Lewis Cogburn

April 27, 1934 - February 5, 1994

"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, just like the ones I used to know"

He was a man of Christmas; a man who loved the entire holiday season and everything it brought. He loved gathering the family and eating; buying presents and picking out special cards; he loved delivering packages and surprises to others; he loved the special services at church when he could attend. He loved having his grandchildren gathered around his easy chair passing out presents and tossing wrappings and eating pizzas and being visited by Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. He especially loved his grandchildren and all other young people. Their programs that he couldn't attend he watched later on tape. During his last years he literally lived for the next Christmas and he ignored pain and weakness and suffering to make his last Christmas one of joy and memories to be cherished. He survived though the season out of sheer will because he said that he couldn't think of anything worse than to leave the children with the memory of his death during Christmas. It is to make our Christmases prettier and brighter and to let his friends and especially his grandchildren have an additional way to enjoy the holidays that these tone chimes are dedicated to the worship and service of God and to the memory of Lewis Cogburn.
