The Sanctuary Podium

Verlin Johnson

1933 - 1991

"I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see"

He was a technical writer, a man of learning and of words. He grew up here but was separated from here by many miles during his adult years when he left to become a profesional soldier. But his influence is still felt here with the family that he affected who remain with us. He was a man who received a sense of integrity and faith from his early days at Hardin's Chapel who passed that on to his family and friends. He belived in the church and in taking a strong role in it and a bold stand for it. Because of this, the sanctuary podium from which both choir performances and board meetings are led is dedicated to the worship and service of God and the memory of Verlin Johnson.
