Funeral services for Mrs. Monico Baker Austin was conducted Sunday, August 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Yellow Springs United Methodist Church. Bro. Jim Ellis and Bro. Durwood Worley officiated the service. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Austin, a homemaker, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006 at Decatur County General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest E. Austin; one daughter, Patricia Ann Austin; brothers, Thomas Baker, Bonnie Baker and three infant brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Baker and husband Tony of New Johnsonville; sons, Jimmy Austin and wife Rita of Holladay and Dwight Austin and wife Angela of Regan; two brothers and three sisters, Kenneth Baker of Holladay, Johnny Baker, Lottie Haynes and Frances Balderson, all of Parsons and Helen Conrad of Camden. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Cody Hudspeth, Melanie, Shayne, Nathan, Jennifer and Steven Austin.
Visitation with the family took place at the church prior to the time for the funeral service.

HOME GOING FOR MR. J. C. BAKER
Services for J.C. Baker, 67, of Parsons was held Tuesday, February 14, 2006, 3:00 P.M. at the Parsons Mortuary. Bro. O.T. Cottrell and Pastor Durwood Worley officiated. Interment followed in the Yellow Springs Cemetery.
J.C. died on Sunday night, February 12, 2006 at the Decatur County Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
J.C. was a member of the Yellow Springs United Methodist Church. J.C., along with his wife Peggy, received Holy Baptism on Easter Sunday of 2004. He was a faithful member who grew in grace and knowelege of the Lord Jesus Christ for more than a year after his profession of faith.
He was a long time employee of Graves & Graves Construction Company and Quinn & Quinn Construction Company. He also retired from the local 614 Steam Fitters Union in Memphis, TN
J.C. was one of the founders of the Decatur County Saddle Club, and an active volunteer leader with the local 4-H Club in Decatur County. He spent 40 years helping many young people in the Horse & Pony project. His love for horses and children is well known throughout several counties. He raised and trained horses and loved to compete and trail ride with family and his many friends.
J.C. was the son of Tommy and Mary Pratt Baker, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Peggy Rogers Baker, a daughter Sheila (Benny) Carver, and a son Ricky (Susan) Baker. Six grandchildren: Clayton Pope, Cassie Pope Bell, Jody Baker, Whitney Baker, Dakota Baker, and Cheyenne Baker. One great grandson Jordan Cain 'J.C.' Bell, one step granddaughter Lori Carver Tubbs, three great step grandsons Justin Carver, Jarrett Tubbs, Jaxton Tubbs and his sister Lavern Hays.
J.C. touched the lives of many people who sadly miss him.
Parsons Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
