Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was organized on September 11, 1887 by nine members which were: G.W. McNaughten, Elizabeth McNaughten, Edward Smith, Mary J. Smith, John Smith, Catherine Smith, John H. Smith, R.J. Smith and G.R. Weaver. The present building was built on its present site in 1902 on land donated by the heirs of Obediah Smith. The building is one of the oldest buildings still in use by a church in Sabine County today.
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is located about 11 miles south of Hemphill and about 1 mile south of the Six Mile Bridge at 12325 State Highway 87S near beautiful Toledo Bend Lake in Sabine County, Texas.
