DECEMBER  FELLOWSHIP TIME  -

Sunday, December 11, is the regular Sunday for our noon fellowship time at the church. Because of the Union Worship service in November, we missed the noon fellowship meal.  December’s fellowship will be a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas so bring festive food or your choice of your favorite dish.  Plan on having a great time as we fellowship together.

Congregational Meeting

There will be a called congregational meeting the last Sunday in November, November 27. You will hear a recommendation from the session that the number for the session be set at 5. This will need to be approved by action of the congregation.

The session is nominating Barbara Allen for a second term as an Elder.

Chuck Melton is rotation off the session. During most of his time on the session he had to live away from Longview. We thank Chuck for his willingness to serve.

We are moving into the month of November which brings several things for us to do.

We have several things at the church which are different.  The meeting on Sunday Evening, November 13, as we worship with Cumberland’s – two denominations.  They may, after years, soon be one.

The really big day in November is November 24 as we celebrate Thanksgiving.  This day has many meanings for us.

Thanksgiving started a few years after we became a country.  We are thankful for our country.  There are many things that may be a problem for us as a country.  the important thing is the problems do not outweigh the good.

I am thankful for all those people down through the years that have worked and even died to help us have this country to live in, but it does not end here.  It is up to us to work, to pray, and to do all we can to keep our country strong and caring for the people in our country and even in the world.  I cannot think of any country that I would move to give up being a part of our country.

Each Sunday when I come to worship, I come here because I want to be here.  I have that freedom.  I am grateful when I see you on the pew.  I am grateful you are here.  I am thankful for your love for Christ and His church. There are other places you could be.

What I have – family and friends are God’s blessings to me. This is God’s world, God’s church and God has given me this place to live and to work.
