Holy Comforter Episcopal Church

Discovery Class

IF ...

  • you have not been confirmed in the Episcopal Church and wish to do so ...
  • you are new to Holy Comforter and/or the Episcopal Church and would like to know more about life and worship in the Anglican Tradition ...
  • you have been around the Episcopal Church for a long time (maybe even a "cradle" Episcopalian) and find your spiritual life a bit stale of late ...
  • you have a desire to further your knowledge of God and the Church, meet some new folks and maybe get your "spiritual batteries re-charged" ...

... YOU need to be in Discovery Class!

Discovery Class will give you the opportunity to examine, in a comfortable, informal setting, such things as the basics of the Christian faith, the history and polity of the Church, our form and style of worship, The Book of Common Prayer, the Sacraments, your Spiritual Gifts and what this all means for us in our daily lives.  In other words, it is designed to help equip us with the tools we need to be and to make disciples.

Discovery Class is also excellent and essential preparation for the rite of Confirmation, the sacrament of the Church in which we express faith and commitment to Jesus Christ and, by prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, receive strength from the Holy Spirit to continue in the life of faith.

As of Fall 2003, we will now be using the award-winning The Discovery Series: A Christian Journey developed by the Diocese of Texas!  Classes are normally held in the Parish Hall and childcare is provided.  (If needed, please let the church office know in advance.)   To register for Discovery Classes, or for more information on future Discovery Classes, call the Church Office at 281-353-9163.
