Altar Guild is an essential ministry at Holy Comforter.  Membership is at the invitation of the rector after an interest in serving is expressed.

 

The past year, Holy Comforter's Altar Guild  has been blessed with 24 dedicated and faithful members, both women and men, divided into four teams.    We sadly had one resignation due to an expected move from the parish, but happily, at the same time, added a new member.  Altar Guild members prepare for weekly eucharists, vestry meetings, and any other special services as required.  We care for service linens, laundering and ironing them each week.  As this ministry is often performed when others are not present, sometimes the time devoted is not apparent.  Considerable time is spent each week by Altar Guild members setting up, re-setting between services, as well as clearing, cleaning, and putting away holy vessels and vestments after services.  Each week, linens are laundered and pressed by an Altar Guild member.  Hunter and I appreciate each member of the Altar Guild for their willingness, dependability and dedication to this ministry and in the service of our Lord.  We always know it will be done well and with love. 

 

A beautiful Nativity for the Advent and Christmas seasons was acquired in 2005, and we expect to enjoy it for many years to come.
