OUR HISTORY
St. Barnabas’ Day, June 11, 1972: Bishop Willis R. Henton dedicated the first worship space [now the Fellowship Hall]
December 3, 1978: Bishop Henton dedicated our Worship Building.
1992: First Plans for a 3rd Building developed.
October 29, 1995: St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church became a Daughter Church of both the Diocese of Northwest Texas & St. John’s, Odessa
October 26, 1996: The Diocese granted us Mission Status.
October 26, 1997 The Diocese granted us Parish Status.
June 1996: The Rev. Michael A. Jasper became the first Vicar (and then Rector) of St. Barnabas.
January 16, 2000: Bishop C. Wallis Ohl officiated at the Groundbreaking for the Education Building.
October 29, 2000: Judy Cobb is ordained to the Diaconate
January 21, 2001: Bishop Ohl officiated over the Education Building's Dedication
December 2001: The Rev. Canon David Veal becomes Interim Rector.
March 30,2002: Canon Veal blesses the main Columbarium Unit.
January 15, 2003: The Rev. David J. Mossbarger begins as St. Barnabas' 2nd Rector.
July 2004: The Gift Shoppe Committee presents our playscape and a new front flower bed.
Other donors purchase new equipment for the carillon, which begins playing again after a 5 year silence.
November 2005: Bishop Ohl blesses new chapel furnishings.
November 2006: The Vestry receives the proceeds from Carol Groves bequest,
December 2007:The bequest provides small repairs and paint for the 1st major facelift to the Worship Building.
December 2008: Leroy Morrison, a Deacon from Central New York. begins officially in Northwest Texas and at St. B's.
September 2009: The Vestry purchases a multimedia center for the Fellowship Building.
March 2010: St. Barnabas hosts transitional families as a part of Family Promise


St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is behind Security State Bank (which is diagonally across the Tanglewood/42nd Street intersection from Music City Mall).
