What to Expect at our Sukkot Event
Below are just a few of the areas that descibe what to expect at our celebration. It is not all inclusive, but is written to give you a general idea of what you will experience. Please be sure to read all of the website, and if you are in disagreement with what you see, please let us know and we will gladly help you find a place to gather with other believers who hold to your particular doctrine.
Fellowship We have a great time of fellowship with other like-minded Nazarene Yisraelite believers. In years past we have met new friends from around Texas, the USA, and beyond. We have great times of fellowship, games, and more. Join in our pot-luck meals for the evening meals as well as other meals. We consider us as one big family just as shown in Scripture, and treat each other as such. Every night after the evening teaching find families meeting at each others campsites around the fire or the table fellowshipping with each other and discussing whatever comes to mind. These are great times of bonding as a family, the family of Elohim called Nazarene Israel.
Nazarene Israelite (Jewish) Services with Liturgy We will have at least 2 formal services this year - The 1st Day of Sukkot and Simchat Torah. We require that all who are participating in Sukkot attend these services. These services will have traditional Yisraelite (Jewish) liturgy in both Hebrew and English. All Hebrew will be translated, and the beauty of the liturgy will be explained to show how it all points to Messiah Y'shua. The use of liturgy binds us together with the rest of Yisrael (Ephraim & Judah), and was embraced by Messiah Y'shua in Scripture as it shows He attended synagogue and followed the customs and prayers during His walk here on earth. He only deviated from the traditions if they violated Torah, as do we at all our services and events. (if the use of traditional "Jewish" liturgy offends you, then let us know and we will help you find a gathering that does not use liturgy in their services). During the services, we ask that all cell phones, i-phones, smart phones, pagers, blackberrys, and laptops be turned off in reverence to Elohim. Use of blackberrys and laptops is encouraged for our studies, but will not be allowed to be used as Bible tools during the service. If you need a Bible, ask and we will gladly loan you one.
Praise & Worship Music We will be having praise and worship music in each of our services, as well as before each night of teaching. We ask that everyone participate as we lift our voice, clap our hands, and dance before the one who made the heavens and earth, and who has called us together to rejoice in His presence. Music will be both live and on CDs and will have both the Name of Elohim and English translations used such as YHWH, Adonai, Lord, and God. We will use a combination of Nazarene Yisraelite songs, traditional Jewish music, Messianic Jewish music such as Paul Wilbur; as well as contemporary Christian music and traditional church music. Understand that this mix of music will be in the services that are required for all to attend, and if this is not what you want to hear and sing, we will be glad to assist you to find somewhere the music is more in line with the doctrines you currently hold (because none have a perfect understanding, and we are all growing, learning, & changing).
In Depth Torah Study Every year we have great study and teaching sessions, and ths year will be no exception. We believe that everyone has something to contribute as we study His Word in our Torah studies, and allow all to participate. No question is ignored, and all answered are examined in the light of the Scriptures. All our studies and discussions will generally focus on Torah obedience and our walk with Messiah as He showed us. Every year our teachers bring us new insights and information. Sometimes it may be different than what we have heard and studied, but we all agree to disagree on non-salvational issues. Those issues which are difficult and controversial are not shied away from, but neither will the be allowed to cause division in the camp. If a subject begins to cause too much debate, it will be halted to be discussed when heads have cooled, or postponed until a better and more appropriate time and place is set. Bring your Scriptures, Tikkuns, commentaries, and computers (remember that all laptops, blackberrys, etc. are allowed for studies, but must be turned off during services), and we will dig into His Word and discover the truths He has for us as His people, the nation of Israel.
