Saint Benedict's Reformed Catholic Church

"An Anglo-Catholic Church"

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST

Dear Ones,

In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, welcome to the web presence of Saint Benendict's Reformed Catholic Church. Saint Benedict's Chapel is located at 1109 Main Street in the heart of downtown Lubbock, Texas.

We are member parish of Diocese of Divine Mercy; the Rev. James West is the Apostolic administrator for the Diocese. The Most Rev. Phillip Zimmerman Th. D, RSJ Is the Metropolitan Archbishop and Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Catholic Church.

One of our primary goals is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and/or homeless of Lubbock and beyond.

Please be assured that ANYONE who is looking for a church home or seeking a closer relationship with Jesus Christ will be welcomed with open arms and understanding hearts. At Saint Benedict's you will find that our community worship services are both "Liturgical and Sacramental".

One of our goals is to introduce people to the "ancient faith and ancient worship" of our Anglo-Catholic ancestors. We worship our Lord in spirit and in truth attempting to combine the best of the three main streams of "the faith once delivered to the saints": Catholic, Evangelical and Charismatic. We continue in the faith and practice taught by the Apostles in caring for God's flock through Service, Scripture, Tradition, Sacrament and Liturgy. Our Benedictine clergy provide pastoral assistance and service to anyone, regardless of denominational affiliation.

Our Mission Statement:

We, the people of Saint Benedict's Reformed Catholic Church, are a community of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who worship together in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. We are called to live and spread the Gospel through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, ministering to each other and all humankind by sharing our time, talents, and treasures.

"Don't look down on others unless you are helping them up"

Our Apostolate

As an Anglo-Catholic community we are attempting to live out our lives by the grace of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. We share with all of our Christian brothers and sisters (regardless of jurisdiction) the One Faith taught by the Churches of the undivided universal Church of Jesus Christ of the first few centuries.

"Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get." St. Matthew 7:1-2 (NRSV)

We are a non judgmental community of Christians. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, accepts EVERYONE who comes to Him in faith. We can do no less!

If you are seeking a community of faith, hope, love and acceptance that offers support, then, we welcome you home. We invite you to worship with us, or to contact us with any questions. We have an apostolate to serve the needs of those who have been ill treated by their home churches, i.e., those who feel disrespected, discouraged, disenfranchised, displaced, disheartened, etc., by their own particular jurisdiction of the one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Everyone is welcome!

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you". I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NRSV)

Our Mission

At Saint Benedict's you will find a growing community of Christians who practice our Anglo-Catholic faith in an environment of caring and sharing. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Sunday at 8:30 AM. Presently all of our liturgical expressions are contained in the 1928 and 1979 editions of the "Book of Common Prayer".

We believe in the "Real Presence" of Jesus Christ in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. All baptized believers are invited to experience the awesome joy and grace of receiving the body and blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You are encouraged to be an active participant in the life and ministry of Saint Benedict's Chapel.

Private confessions are heard by appointment. A general confession is incorporated within the Eucharistic celebration.

We seek the wisdom and strength to worship and praise our Lord God through the power of His Holy Spirit.

As has been noted above one of our primary missions is to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the helpless and homeless of Lubbock and beyond by providing a place of worship and providing at least eight or nine meals and refreshments per week. We also work with other Christians and social service organizations to provide as much care and service as possible in order to help people change their station in life.

We take very seriously our Lord's command to spread the Gospel message of salvation through the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Evangelistic outreach is an extremely important aspect of our ministry.

We are committed by the ministry of the Holy Spirit to being in spiritual fellowship with all Christians, regardless of jurisdiction, throughout the world. We offer Christian comfort to anyone from the "sacramental and liturgical Christian community" who, for a variety of reasons, are no longer active in Holy Church.

We also offer a (sacramental and liturgical) "Church Home" to any Christian who is seeking a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to sharing with you the wonderful mysteries of our Anglo-Catholic faith.

Prayers for the men and women in our Armed Forces

May the Lord be your protector and shield!

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Collect For Heroic Service

" O judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen"
